1. The cardan gudgeon bearings require yery little
oi!. They are oiled at
factory and
need no
oil unless removed
and cleaned.
If bearings are
cleaned, oil
with
i drop of
light oil.
Keep
bearings clean.
When
removing cardan
from case be careful
that the right cardan bearing is not damaged. This

Clean with
alcohol or carbon tet. and wipe
with clean white cloth.

assemble, clean with alcohol or carbon tet. and
working parts with film of oil.

CAUTION:
IF ECCENTRIC DISC IS DROPPED THE CAM-
WAY WHICH FITS OVER THE DOVE TAIL MAY BE DAMAGED.
ALMAYS CHECK FOR FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT OF THE EC-
CENTRIC DISC ON DOVE TAIL.
A. Check for precession of gyro in proper direct-
ion as knobs are used.
Bubble should move in the
same direction that the top of the knob
is turned.
(When gyro is running.)
B. Check for binding of shafts due to dirt, cor-
rosion,
etc. Disassemble, clean and oil if nec-
essary.
Check for rust, dirt and binding. Disassemble,
clean
and lubricate with petrolatum
(very light

) if necessary.
