of Ciosure
"Veiccity
of Closure"
is the velocity at
which the airpiane is closing
with the target.
If the target
stationary,
"Velocity
Closure" is equal to the ground speed of the air-
plane.
If the target is moving, it is the Ground
Speed plus or minus the Ground Speed of the moving
EXAMPLE:
target is moving at aground
speed of 30 m.p.h. in
same direction
airplane and the airplane's ground speed is 250
n. p.n.: the Velacity of Closure is
220 m=p.h.
target is moving toward the airplane at
ground speed ot
30 m.p.h. and the airplane has a
Ground Speed of 250 m.p.h., the Velocity of Clos-
ure is 280 m.p.h.
