Isolated sector operation and M-6 wiring
RESTRICTED
The current from slip rings 4 and 3 passes
directly to the upper and lower twelve-volt seg-
ments. Before the current reaches the six-volt
segments, it passes through six-volt resistors.
The purpose of the six and twelve volt seg-
ments is to prevent hunting of the gyro across
the neutral position.
When the gyro precesses a little off neutral,
the brush contacts the six-volt segment, and one
of the clutches is engaged and the gyro is pre-
cessed to neutral position. If the gyro precesses
beyond the six-volt segment, more power is requir-
ed to precess it back to neutral. When the brush
contacts a 12-volt segment, the clapper magnet
exerts more force upon the clutch engaged (until
the brush reaches the 6-volt segment) and the gyro
is precessed to neutral position.
(4) M-6
The M-6 has a one wire electrical system.
The circuit is grounded to the case. Flexible
leads carry the current across the bearings, and
carry the return across the bearings.
The power pole of the 16 pole cannon plug
is number 15, and the ground pole number 13. (See
diagram).
The stabilizer circuit, torque motor circuit
and PDI are the same as the M-3, except for the
ground wire.
The precession motor circuit has been added.
(See diagram).
