bearing and tap into place.
b. Place armature shaft in lower bear-
ing and tap commutator end bearing
bracket into place.
c. Replace and tighten screws, holding
bracket to base.
(1) Check motor for freedom of move-
ment.
(2) If armature does not turn free-
ly, loosen screws and check al-
ignment of bracket.
d. Replace intermediate gear and taper
pin.
2. Replace field coils and shoes.
3. Reinstall clapper magnets.
4. Replace clapper magnet armatures and
hinge pins.
5. To reassemble upper plate.
a. Insert bearing in clutch gear and
replace bearing clamp.
b. Place clutch disc on shaft.
c. Place disc on smooth end of shaft.
d. Check to see that bronze and steel
clutch gears are properly meshed.
e. Tighten clutch shaft nut.
CAUTION: Do not tighten clutch shaft
nut too tightly for the collar of
the clutch gear shaft will be shear-
ed.
f. Replace ring gear drive gear shaft
in bearing, being certain that bear-
ing is properly seated.
6. Replace upper plate.
a. The lower bearing of the ring gear
drive gear is self aligning. Be
sure that the bearing is properly
aligned before tightening the screws
and dowel bolts holding upper plate
to frame. Rotate gears to check for
freedom of movement. Gears should
move freely; if not check work.
7. Replace fiber terminal block.
8. Replace carbon brushes. (Brush plugs
should extend 1/4" from brush holder.)
9. Connect all wires to the proper termin-
als.
Clearances to be checked after reassem-
bly.
a. Clearance between clutch disc and
cork insert .003 to .005 of an inch.
